Abstract

Kedawung (Parkia roxburghii G. Don) is a plant that has an effect in increasing HDL levels and decreasing LDL levels. This research aims to understand the ethanol extract activity of kedawung seeds (Parkia roxburghii G. Don) on HDL levels and LDL levels and to understand that equivalent with positive control on increasing HDL levels and decreasing LDL levels in hyperlipidemic Wistar rats. This research used 30 male white rats divided into 6 groups namely normal control, negative control and positive control (simvastatin), with each dosage of ethanol extract of kedawung seeds is 200 mg, 400 mg, and 800 mg/Kg bw. Measurements of HDL and LDL levels were conducted into 3 measurements, first measurement is T0 (day-0), second measurement is T1 (day-14) measurement after induced with high-fat diet and PTU for 14 days, and third measurement is T2 (day-28) measurement after being given test preparation, then the data tested with statistics. The result on this research showed that giving ethanol extract of kedawung seeds could increase HDL levels and decrease LDL levels on hyperlipidemic wistar rats. Dosage of ethanol extract of kedawung seeds that equivalent with positive control that could increase HDL levels and decrease LDL levels is 800 mg/Kg bw. Keywords : Kedawung, hyperlipidemic, HDL, LDL, rats.
