Abstract

Indonesian people use many traditional medicinal plants for bacterial infections, one of which is the Samin tribe. The use of medicinal plants of the Samin tribe has not been properly inventoried, so ethnopharmaceutical research is needed to explore these medicinal plants. The study aims to determine the efficacious plants, how to manufacture and use of plants as antibacterial in the Samin tribe, as well as determine the value of ICF and UV based on bioprospective analysis. The study was conducted with qualitative and quantitative methods using snowball sampling techniques with open-ended interviews to obtain useful medicinal plant data as an antibacterial drug. The data obtained is then processed using bioprospective analysis to look for UV and ICF values. 12 informants were obtained, inventorying 14 types of diseases, 34 traditional recipes, and 35 plants. The method of making and using the most is boiling and drinking. The highest ICF value indicates the treatment of a disease in the Samin tribe with plants that are widely used as a hereditary herb with a value of 1 in leucorrhoea, scabies, and eye pain. Antibacterial UV values indicate that plants are the most widely known and/or used by the Samin tribe, the betel (Piper betle L.). Keywords: ethnopharmacy, antibacterial, bioprospective, Samin tribe
