Abstract
The leaves of Moringa (Moringa oleifera L) contain compounds flavonoid, saponins, tannins, steroids, triterpenoids, phenolic, alkaloids, essential oils, saponin glycosides, and anthraquinones which are used as antibacterial agents. This literature review aims to determine what secondary metabolite compounds are contained in Moringa leaves, to determine the antibacterial activity of Moringa leaves against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and to determine whether the active compound in Moringa leaves can be used as an antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus aureus. This literature review was carried out in several stages, namely formulating problems, collecting data, evaluating data, analyzing data, and interpreting the data obtained. The data used are international journals and national journals from Google scholar 6 journals, Scientdirect 2 journals, Pubmed 1 journals, and DOAJ 1 journals between 2011 and 2020 selected according to the inclusion criteria. International journals obtained by 7 journals and 3 national journals. The results of a literature review on journals related to the identification of Moringa leaves and antibacterial activity tests show that Moringa leaves have secondary metabolite compounds that can be used as antibacterial and have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Keywords: Moringa oleifera Lamk, Staphylococcus aureus, antibacterial
