Abstract
The starfruit’s leaves (Averrhoa blimbiL.) Contain flavonoids, saponins, tannins which have antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory (anti-inflammatory) properties. These substances are active compounds in plants that have medicinal properties that can kill infectious diseases caused by bacteria. One of the skin diseases that get attention is acne (Acne vulgaris). Acne occurs when the follicle blockage by dead cells, sebum, and inflammation caused by the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria in the sebaceous follicle. This study aims to determine whether the topical preparation of starfruit extract (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) has antibacterial activity that causes acne and has good physical quality. This research using a systematic literature review method by comparing some data with the same testing method. The data obtained from portal garuda , google scholar , PubMed. There are several criteria for used a journal or proceeding an inclusion year rising 2010-2020, journal about antibacterial activity to plant carambola wuluh propionicbacterium acnes. The test for the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of star fruit against Propionicbacterium acne using the microdilution method. The ethanol extract of star fruit has potential as an antibacterial against Propionicbacterium acne with MIC. The purpose of testing the antibacterial activity of topical preparations using the diffusion method is to determine the growth inhibition area of the tested bacteria. The results showed that topical preparations (cold powder, milk cleanser, gel) of starfruit extract (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) had antibacterial activity that causes acne with different inhibition zoneks. Some have very strong, strong and moderate activity. The extra starfruit as a whole has good physical quality but it doesn’t work in cold powder preparations. Keywords: Averrhoa bilimbi, Propionicbaterium acnes, antibacterial, acne vulgaris
