Abstract

Cherry leaves (Muntingia calabura L.) contain flavonoids and tannins that can play a role in wound healing. This study aims to determine the physical quality and search of the ethanol extract gel preparation of cherry leaves (Muntingia calabura L.) and to determine whether there is a reduction in the diameter of the burn wound from the gel preparation of ethanol extract of cherry leaves with variations in extract concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 40%. . The extract was made using the maceration method for 5 days and then made a gel preparation by evaluating the physical properties of the preparation including organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, adhesion and strength. The effectiveness test on burns was performed on the back of rabbits with a diameter of 1.5 mm. The test was carried out by shaving the rabbit's back then local anesthesia with ethyl acetate, after that heat was induced by the Hot Plate method. The gel is applied twice a day, then covered with sterile gauze. wound healing effect for 21 days and measurement of wound diameter using a ruler. Data were analyzed using SPSS application. The results showed that the results of the physical quality test and the gel preparation met the requirements. On the observation of burns on the 1st day to the 21st day, the wound diameter decreased. It was concluded that the concentration of cherry leaf extract gel of 10%, 20% and 40% with the results of 81.47%, 81.65%, and 81.87%, respectively, had a healing effect on burns.
