Abstract
Noni fruit contains flavonoid compounds, vitamin C, vitamin E, and proxeronine, it has potential as an antioxidant. Noni has a bad smell, soft texture, and sour taste, with the development of noni fruit as extract, and than an emulgel hoped that it could increase its acceptance in the community. This study aimed to determine the effect of variations in HPMC concentration on the physical quality, antioxidant activity, and the best formula of 70 % ethanol extract of noni emulgel. This extraction method is maceration. There were three main formulas consisted of HPMC (3,5 %: 4,5 %: 5,5 %). The physical test of emulgel included organoleptic, homogeneity, emulgel type, viscosity, adhesion, spreadability, pH, and cycling test. Determination IC50 of antioxidant value with DPPH using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. This study's results were in the form of physical quality and IC50 values followed by SPSS analysis. The increase in HPMC concentration caused an increase in viscosity, adhesion, and pH, but decreased dispersion and IC50 values. The FI of emulgel preparation of 70 % ethanol extract of noni has the best physical quality and IC50 value, which is 225,824 μg/mL, smaller the IC50 value, it means the stronger antioxidant activity.
