Abstract
Acne is a common skin disease in adolescents, although acne is not life-threatening, but it can affect quality of life by providing psychological effects. Some of the plants that have been studied as having anti-acne potential are Arumanis Mango Leaves (Mangifera indica L.), Green Grass Jelly leaves (Premna oblogata Miq), Blind-Leaves (Excoecaria agallocha L.), Lemongrass Leaves (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle), Bulbus Onion Tiwai (Eleutherine Americana (Mill.) Urb.), Leaf-in-law of the Tongue (Sansivieria trifasciata), Watermelon Skin (Citrulus lanatus (Thunb.), Turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val.), Patikan Kebo (Euphorbia hirta L.) and Chinese Petai Leaves (Leucaena leucocephala (Lamk.) De Wit) To facilitate the use of these plants to eliminate pimples, cosmetics are made in the form of creams, ointments, lotions and gels. This review article will describe the formulation of anti-acne gel containing active substances from plant extracts. This article review uses a comparative research method by gathering various primary literature sources from 10 research journals. Conducted a literature review using Google Scholar. The results of this review can be concluded that the active substances from plant extracts can be made as anti-acne gel preparations, all gels are formulated both in physical quality and stability test in the absence of signs of gel form damage during the test carried out. Keywords: acne, gel, extract
