Abstract

Antibiotics are a group of compounds, both natural and synthetic that have the effect of suppressing or stopping a biochemical process in organisms, especially in the process of infection by bacteria. This study aims to determine the pattern of antibiotic drug use in children acute respiratory track infection patients at Dr Oen Kandang Hospital Surakarta. Knowing the appropriateness of antibiotic use in children acute respiratory track infection patients at Dr Oen Kandang Sapi Hospital Surakarta has met the formulary, Depkes and Pharmacotherapy Handbook ninth edition 2015. The population in this study were all children acute respiratory track infection patients in the Polyclinic Pediatric Hospital at Dr Oen Kandang Sapi Surakarta Hospital in August 2019 - January 2020.This research is descriptive in nature, with retrospective data collection using patient data and prescriptions. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Of 356 patients who met the inclusion criteria, based on the diagnosis of acute respiratory track infection with 234 sheets of antibiotics and without antibiotics as many as 122 sheets. Based on the age of the patients it can be seen that the highest frequency of upper respiratory infection patients is in the age group 2-14 years of 89.89%. The age group is susceptible to infectious diseases, especially acute respiratory track infection. It is known that the number of male patients suffering from acute respiratory track infection is 80.90%, while women 19.10%. the most commonly used antibiotics are Cefixime (67.10%) and cefadroxil (18.80%) and amoxicylin (14.10%). From August 2019 - January 2020 The percentage of drugs that are not included in the formulary and prescribed by doctors is 2.56%. Keyword : Antibiotic, Acute Respiratory Track Infection, Children
