Abstract

Aluminum Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide are combination materials used as antacids. The combination of these two ingredients can neutralize stomach acid so as to provide comfort to the user. In the manufacture of chewable tablets needed additional ingredients, one of which is a binder. The binding agent used in this study was gelatin. The binding agent, gelatin, is used in this research because gelatin is a good and stable water binding agent. Gelatin is used as a binder in concentrations of 5-10% to make good tablet hardness and in accordance with the test requirements. From the review of the journal that has been done, the conclusion that the addition of binders for chewable tablets, increasing the concentration of binding substances can affect the increase in hardness and decrease the fragility of the tablets. While the concentration of filler substances in tablets is also very influential in the physical quality of tablets. The greater the concentration of filler substances, the time of the flow of granules is getting longer, the tablets are getting harder, the brittleness is getting smaller, and the time crushed the tablet is getting longer. However, the increased concentration of filler substances still meet the requirements on the uniformity of the tablet's weight and size in the Indonesian pharmacope.
