Abstract

Pomegranate fruit (Punica granatum L.) is a fruit that the people believe has many benefits and good for the health of the skin and body. Pomegranate fruit (Punica granatum L.) has antioxidant content that is useful as anti-aging on the skin so that the skin becomes elastic and radiant. One of the emerging preparations is the preparation of serum. This research aims to determine the formulation of glowing face serum of pomegranate extract (Punica granatum L.) and influence variations of xanthan gum concentrations of serum dosage viscosity. Xanthan gum which is variated in the study is divided into 3 formulas, each formula has a concentration of 0.05; 0.10; and 0.15. The preparation of serum begins by mixing all the ingredients in each formula into a homogeneous dosage. Then the preparation is tested for the physical quality of organoleptic test, pH test, viscosity test, and stability test. Then the viscosity test results are analyzed statistically using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) One way method with a confidence level of 95%. The thiced results show that the higher the xanthan gum concentration is added then the higher the viscosity value is produced. Thus increasing the concentration of xanthan gum will affect the viscosity value of serum preparations and also affect the physical quality of the serum in storage.
