Abstract

Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality of infectious diseases in the world. This study aims to determine the pattern of antibiotic use for the treatment of acute respiratory infections and to determine the suitability of antibiotic use for patients with acute respiratory infections according to the standards of Pharmaceutical care, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2005. This research uses descriptive method and data collection with literature review. The literature used is in accordance with predetermined criteria. The data obtained were then compared with the Pharmaceutical care standards of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2005. The results of this study were that the most widely used antibiotics were the penicillin group amoxicillin. While the use of antibiotics is in accordance with Pharmaceutical care standards, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2005. Key words : Pattern of use, ARI, Antibiotics
