Abstract

Moringa (Moringa oleifera L.) is one of the traditional medicinal plants that are widely available in Indonesia. Moringa leaves contain flavonoid active compounds that function as antioxidants. Moringa leaf extract was developed in lotion preparations to facilitate topical application. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of cetyl alcohol on the physical quality of Moringa leaf extract lotion preparations and to determine the formulation of Moringa leaf extract lotion with variations in the best concentration of cetyl alcohol. This study used a laboratory experimental method, namely the thick extract of Moringa leaves obtained by extracting Moringa leaves by maceration and then evaporation. The lotion formulation was made by varying the concentration of 2%, 4% and 6% cetyl alcohol. As well as physical quality tests that include organoleptic, pH, homogeneity, dispersibility and viscosity. The data obtained were then analyzed statistically using one-way ANOVA and continued with the Post Hoc test with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that increasing the concentration of cetyl alcohol had an effect on increasing viscosity, decreasing dispersion and increasing the pH of Moringa leaf extract lotion preparations. Concentration of 4% cetyl alcohol resulted in lotion preparations with the best physical quality because the organoleptic test resulted in a thick lotion preparation, with a distinctive odor of Moringa leaves and light green color. ___________________________________________________________________ Keywords : Moringa Leaf (Moringa oleifera L), Lotion, Cetyl Alcohol
