Abstract
The ethanol extract of basil leaves contains flavonoid compounds, tannins, and saponin as antibacterial. The ethanol extract of basil leaves was developed in a facial wash gel to prevent acne caused by Staphylococcus aureus. This study aims to determine the facial wash gel has physical quality, antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, and the most effective formula concentration in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Ethanol extract of basil leaves was obtained using maceration method with 96% ethanol. In this study, three formulas were made with variations in the concentration of 3%; 5%; and 7% basil leaf ethanol extract. Physical quality evaluation includes organoleptic test, pH, foam power, viscosity, homogeneity, and stability of freeze thaw. Testing of antibacterial activity using the disc diffusion method. The results of the data that have been obtained will be analyzed using SPSS version 23. Variation in the concentration of ethanol extract of basil leaves in the facial wash gel have an effect on the pH and viscosity of the preparation. The preparation of facial wash gel at F3 with a concentration formula in this study and the most effective in inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus with a bland capacity of 14,25 mm.
