Abstract
The most common skin disease is acne. One of the bacteria that causes acne is Staphylococcus aureus. The plant known to have antibacterial activity against S.aureus is Moringa leaf (Moringa oleifera Lam.). Moringa leaves are formulated in facial wash gel preparations with various extract concentrations. This study aims to determine the concentration of extracts that have good physical quality and stability and are able to effectively inhibit Staphylococcus aureus. In this study, Moringa leaves were extracted by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent and 3 formulas with different concentration variations, namely 2.5%, 5% and 7.5%. Facial wash gel preparations were tested for organoleptic, pH, viscosity, foam power, and homogeneity, and continued with antibacterial activity test using disc diffusion method. The results of the data obtained were continued with statistical analysis tests using SPSS with the One Way Anova test. The results showed that the gel facial wash of Moringa leaf extract with variations in the concentration of the extract had good physical quality and stability. Variations in the concentration of the extract affect the antibacterial activity. The higher the concentration of the extract, the higher the inhibition zone value obtained. The results of antibacterial activity in F1, F2, and F3 gel facial wash preparations with concentrations of 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5% respectively, obtained inhibition zones of 13.60 mm, 15.57 mm, and 19.50. mm. Formula 3 is the best formula because it has good physical quality and stability, and has the highest inhibition zone yield. Keywords: Staphylococcus aureus, moringa leaves, facial wash gel, pits
