Abstract

Bronchitis is one form of ARD disease caused by inflammation of the bronchus, bronchioli, and trachea (airways to the lungs). Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchus caused by various microorganisms of both viruses, bacteria, and parasites. The treatment for bronchitis is used an antibiotic. The purpose of this research was to determine the pattern of antibiotic use in outpatient bronchitis patients in RSUD Karanganyar in 2015 and the compatibility of antibiotic usage pattern toward Hospital Formulary and Guidlines. This research uses purpusive sampling technique which is included in nonprobability sampling method. Data collection was done by collecting secondary data of antibiotic usage in outpatient bronchitis patient by observing report of antibiotic usage every month starting from January-December 2015 at medical record unit of RSUD Karanganyar. The results of this study indicate the pattern of antibiotic use in outpatient bronchitis patients in RSUD Karanganyar in 2015 using single antibiotic therapy cefixime, cefadroxil, azythromycin, ciprofloxacin, amoxicillin and levofloxacin and using combination antibiotic therapy cefixime with azythromycin and azythromycin with levofloxacin. The compliance of antibiotic usage with Hospital Formulary is appropriate, indicated by percentage of suitability 100%, while the suitability of antibiotic usage with Guidelines is less suitable, indicated by the percentage of conformity based on the dose of 1.22% and the duration of administrationof 20.73%.
