Abstract

Celery has antimicrobial activity because it contains flavonoid, saponin, taninns anda alkaloids.. The purpose of this study was to make a hair mask with varying concentrations of celery ethanol extract and a literature review of antimicrobial activity in several formulas from celery on fungi and bacteria that caouse dandruff. The hair mask formula was divided into 4. Formula 1 as a negative control, formulas 2, 3 and 4 contained celery ethanol extract with concentrations of 15, 20 and 25%. Data on the antimicrobial activity of celery formulations were obtained from the results of a literature review in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of this study, celery contains secondary metabolites that have antimicrobial activity. The formulation of celery ethanol extract hair mask which has good physical quality and good stability is formula 3 with an extract concentration of 20%. The results of the literature review, the formulation of 10% celery ethanol extract shampoo had the best activity against the fungus Pityrosporum ovale and the 15% celery ethanol extract cream formula had the best activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.
