Abstract

Dlingo leaf (Acorus calamus L.) is a plant that has antibacterial activity of Staphylococcus aureus which can cause an infection on the skin, to prevent it by using antibacterial hand soap. The purpose of this study was to see the physical quality of the liquid soap produced and to see the magnitude of the inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This study used three formulas containing 1 dlingo leaf extract; 5; and 10% plus a positive control formula on the market (Liquid soap "D") and a negative control (without extract). Dlingo leaves were extracted by percolation method with 96% ethanol and formulated in the form of liquid hand washing soap. The method of testing the antibacterial activity using the well diffusion method. The stability test study showed that the hand washing liquid soap dlingo leaf extract met the physical quality test criteria. Test results Antibacterial activity with different concentrations had antibacterial activity seen from the diameter of the inhibition zone, respectively 11.9 mm, 16.3 mm, and 15 mm. Dlingo leaf extract hand washing liquid soap formula was the most effective in inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus at a concentration of 5%.
