Abstract
Candida albicans is a normal flora in the human body, if its growth not normal it will caused disease. The active substances in the temu mangga (Curcuma mangga) and basil (Ocimum basilicum) plants can be used as antifungals. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the combination of the two plants on the growth of Candida albicans. The research was conducted by extraction using 96% ethanol as solvent for both plants. The extracts were tested using the dilution method to determine the minimum killing concentration value. The extract was continued with a disc diffusion test with 3 treatment groups where each group was a combination (1:1); (1:2); and (2:1). Data analysis using SPSS with a value of sig> 0.05. The research continued with the disc diffusion method in determining the effect of each extract. Research shows that temu mangga contains flavonoids, saponins, and steroids. Basil contains flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, steroids. Temu mangga extract had a minimum killing concentration value of 12.5%. Basil leaf extract has a minimum killing concentration value of 7.5%. The combination of extracts (1:1) had a diameter of 28.00 ± 1.73. The combination of extracts (1:2) had a diameter of 33.33 ± 1.53. The combination of extracts (2:1) has a diameter of 30.00 ± 1.00 where the diameter of the largest combination of extracts is the combination of extracts (1:2) with a dose of temu mangg is 12,5% and basil extract dose is 15%.
