Abstract
Antioxidants are compounds that are able to neutralize free radicals. White frangipani flowers (Plumeria alba) have flavonoid compounds, tannins, phenols, flabatanins, trepenoids, and glycosides. Flavonoid compounds and tannins in white frangipani flowers are able to provide antioxidant activity. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water fractions of white frangipani flower extract (Plumeria alba) from the IC50 value obtained and to determine the fraction that has the strongest antioxidant activity among the n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water. Extraction of white frangipani flowers was carried out by maceration method using 70% ethanol as solvent. The extract was concentrated with a rotary evaporator to obtain a thick extract, then fractionated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and white frangipani flower extract as a solvent. The results of the fractionation were then tested for antioxidant activity using the DPPH method and measured the absorbance using uv-vis spectrophotometry. In determining the maximum wavelength in the range of 400-800 nm with a maximum wavelength of 516 nm. Then the operating time is carried out from the first minute to the 60th minute or until it is stable. Next, do a test of antioxidant activity to find the IC50 value of each fraction. Based on the results of research that has been done, that the n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water fractions have antioxidant activity.
