Abstract

Ibuprofen has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects that are easily available in the market. Ibuprofen has excreted through the hair and urine, the search aimis to analyze the presence of ibuprofen in urine and human hair by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) is a combination of GC and MS tools which is a combination to separate and identify the components of a mixture in a sample. This study aims to analyze the compound of ibuprofen in urine and hair qualitatively by using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). This study used urine and hair samples obtained from patients (probandus) who received ibuprofen therapy. Extraction of ibuprofen in urine samples was carried out using chloroform while in hair using methanol, which was then derivatized using BSTFA containing 1% TMCS and analyzed using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The results of the GC-MS analysis showed that ibuprofen could be detected in urine proband 1 (2 hours) with ion fragmentation m/z 206,1; 161,1; 119,1; and 91,1 appeared at a retention time of 13,580 minutes. In proband 1 sampling 4 hours fragmentation ion m/z 206,1; 161,1; 117; and 91,1 appeared at a retention time of 13.648 minutes. At proband 2 (2 hours) the fragmentation ion m/z 206,2; 161,2; 117,1; and 91,1appeared at a retention time of 13.625 minutes. At proband 2 (4 hours) the fragmentation ion m/z 206,2; 161,2; 117,1; dan 91,1 appeared at a retention time of 13,494 minutes. While the urine sample with a sampling time of 24 hours and the hair sample obtained negative results, which these results can be influenced by various factors. Keywords : ibuprofen, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), human hair, and urine.
