Abstract
Sunscreen is a substance that can protect the skin from exposure to UV rays. This sunscreen cream from the cosmetic industry contains the active ingredient parsol, which includes an organic UV filter with a mechanism for absorbing UV radiation and converting it into heat energy. The sunscreen cream was tested for contamination to determine the presence of contamination in the product. The purpose of this research was to determine the SPF value and the S. aureus from sunscreen creams with sunscreen A, B, and C. The SPF value was determined in vitro using spectrophotometry. UV-Vis, using the Mansur method and statistical tests using One Way Anova. The contamination test was carried out using MSA (Mannitol Salt Agar) media with a positive result, there was a yellow color change in the media and the formation of evenly round colonies. The results of determining the SPF value of sunscreen samples with sunscreen A 49,085; sunscreen B 25,447; and sunscreen C 25,659, so the highest SPF value is the sunscreen A. The contamination test results show that on the sunscreen sample media with sunscreen A replication 1 there are no colonies and replication 2 and 3 have colonies, sunscreen B and C are not present. colony. The media that contained the growth of colonies was subjected to identification test which showed that the colony was not a colony of S. aureus. Key Word : Sunscreen, Staphylococcus aureus, SPF
