Abstract

Glucose is energy for cells that is formed from carbohydrates from the food consumed and stored in the liver and muscles as glycogen. Blood glucose levels are influenced by endogenous and exogenous factors. One of the blood glucose tests carried out in the laboratory is one of the blood sugar tests. Blood glucose examination aims to screen or monitor Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Blood glucose testing can use serum or plasma samples.The purpose of this research is to know difference of blood glucose result using serum and plasma EDTA samples. The type of research carried out is observational analytic with the aim of comparing blood glucose levels when using EDTA serum and plasma samples with a cross sectional research design. Data normality test was used to determine whether the type of test used was parametric or non-parametric. The normality test used is called the Saphiro wilk test and data analysis using Paired t-test. The results of the comparison of blood glucose using serum and plasma EDTA,in the Paired t-test it was p = 0,080 (>,005) it can be concluded that there is no significant difference in the result of blood glucose examination using serum and plasma EDTA samples.
