Abstract
Water guava leaf is a plant that has several chemical compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, saponins, and alkaloids, where these compounds can be used as anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is an injury in the form of tissue damage that causes redness. This study aims to determine the anti-inflammatory activity and the most effective dose of water guava leaves in male white rats. The method used for extracting water guava leaves is maceration with 96% ethanol as solvent. The doses of water guava leaf extract to be given are 100 mg/kg weight, 200 mg/kg weight, and 400 mg/kg weight, with a positive control comparison of 0.9 mg/200gr weight sodium diclofenac rats orally, and a negative control CMC- Na 1%. Anti-inflammatory testing was carried out by subplantar formation of edema with 1% 0.05 ml carrageenan inducer. From the edema observation data, it is found that the percentage of edema and the percentage of edema inhibition will be xvnalysed with Shapiro-Wilk to see the distribution of the data and Levene to see the homogeneity of the data, then a one-way ANOVA test will be carried out and Post Hoc Tukey test. The result showed that the ethanol extract of water guava leaves had anti-inflammatory activity at a dose of 100 mg/kgBb with a percent inhibition of edema of 4,06%, a dose of 200 mg/kgBb of 15,80% , and a dose of 400 mg/kgBb had a higher percent inhibition of edema the effective is 41,81%.
