Abstract
Hyperuricemia is characterized by increased levels of uric acid in the body, usually most people use synthetic drugs to lower uric acid levels, therefore the use of natural ingredients can suppress fewer side effects. Avocado peels contains flavonoid compounds, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, carotenoids, total phenolics and anthocyanins. This study aims to determine whether avocado peels can be used to treat antihyperuricemia and an effective dose to reduce uric acid levels in the blood. The method of measuring blood uric acid levels using the Easy Touch Uric Acid Test Strips tool. The test animals used were 25 male white mice which were divided into 5 groups including the 0.5% CMC group, the allopurinol group, and the avocado peels ethanol extract group with 3 different doses (dose 189.5 mg/kg BW, 397 mg /kg BW, 794 mg/kg BW). After in 7th days, the test animals were made hyperuricemic by being given a high purine diet and accompanied by potassium oxonate, then 70% ethanol extract of avocado peel was given on the 14th and 21st days and the blood uric acid levels of male white mice were measured on the 7th day. 0, 7th, 14th, and 21st. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of avocado skin at a dose of 189.5 mg/kg BW, 794 mg/kg BW could reduce uric acid levels in the blood of hyperuricemic male white mice. The effective dose in reducing uric acid levels in the blood of mice is a dose of 794 mg/kg BW. Keywords: antihyperuricemia, avocado peels, male white mice
