Abstract

Exposure to sunlight containing UV-A rays can trigger the formation of free radicals in the skin and result in premature aging. Noni fruit is a tropical plant that contains alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, vitamins, minerals, scopoletin, and noni fruit has the potential as a good source of antioxidants. Noni has an unpleasant odor, mushy texture, and an unpleasant taste. The cream of 96% ethanol extract of noni fruit is expected to increase the acceptance of the product in the community. Creams were tested using various concentrations of cetyl alcohol, FI 3%, FII 6%, and FIII 9%. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in cetyl alcohol on the physical quality and activity of anti-aging cream. The extraction method used in this research is the maceration method. This method was used as a solvent for 96% ethanol extract of mungkudu fruit which was then thickened using a rotary evaporator. The cream formula of 96% ethanol extract of noni fruit was made by varying the concentration of cetyl alcohol FI 3%, FII 6%, and FIII 9%. Then the physical properties test of the cream includes an organoleptic test, which is useful for checking the shape, color, and texture of homogeneity to determine the level of homogeneity of the cream composition by observing the presence or absence of agglomerated particles. The purpose of adhesion is to find out the cream has the ability to stick to the skin; spreadability is done with an extensometer; pH test is done with a pH meter; Stability test is a test used to determine the stability of cream on storage. To test the effectiveness of anti-aging using a New Zealand White rabbit whose back has been exposed to UV-A rays and a skin irritation test with a Skin analyzer which aims to diagnose skin conditions. The topmost layer of skin and shows the innermost layer of the skin because of the integrated system. Based on the results of anti-aging tests that have been carried out using a Skin Analyzer using the parameters of collagen, elasticity and also moisture, it shows that the preparation of noni fruit extract cream has effectiveness as an anti-aging. Increasing the concentration of cetyl alcohol causes an increase in viscosity, adhesion, and spreadability. Group 3 (FI) with 3% cetyl alcohol composition was the best formula, because it had the best physical quality, percentage value of collagen (36.19%), moisture (65.78%), and elasticity (34.18%).
