Abstract

LAILATUL MUFARIDA, 2023, COMPARISON OF MACERATION AND SOCLETATION EXTRACTION METHODS ON TOTAL PHENOL CONTENT OF LAMTORO LEAF EXTRACTS (Leucaena glauca Bth.), SCIENTIFIC WORKS, D-III PHARMACEUTICAL STUDY PROGRAM, FACULTY OF PHARMACY, SETIA BUDI UNIVERSITY. Supervised by Apt. Fransiska Leviana, S.Farm., M.sc. Lamtoro leaves are one of the plants that contain phenolic compounds which have great benefits for humans. The purpose of this study was to determine the ratio of total phenolic content of the ethanol extract of lamtoro leaves by maceration and soxhletation extraction methods. The maceration and soxhletation and soxhletation methods use 70% ethanol solvent. The maceration procedure is carried out by immersing the plant material (simplicia) in a suitable solvent in a closed container at room temperature. While the soxhletation method uses a series of soxhletation tools. Soxhletation was carried out at 70oC until the cycle drops were no longer colored. The liquid extract obtained was then concentrated using a rotary evaporator at 40oC until a thick extract of lamtoro leaves was obtained. The ethanol extract by maceration an soxhletation methods was analyzed for total phenol content by the Folin-Ciocalteu method using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The results showed that the total phenolic content of the ethanol extract of lamtoro leaves using the maceration extraction method was 10,8337% and the ethanol extract of lamtoro leaves using the soxhletation method was 14,2904%. It can be concluded that the total phenolic content of the ethanol extract of the leaves lamtoro (Leucaena glauca Bth.) using the soxhletation method is greater than the maceration method.
