Abstract
NATASYA SALMA SAFIRA, 2023, DETERMINATION OF SPF VALUE IN HAND BODY LOTION PRODUCTS CIRCULATING IN KARANGANYAR CITY IN VITRO WITH UV-VIS SPECTROPHOTOMETRY, SCIENTIFIC PAPERS, D-III PHARMACY STUDY PROGRAM, SETIA BUDI UNIVERSITY. Supervised by apt. Vivin Nopiyanti, S.Farm., M.Sc. Cosmetic products such as hand body lotion containing sunscreen have effectiveness that can be seen in the Sun Protection factor (SPF) value listed on the product label. The large number of sunscreen products on the market raises concerns about the mismatch between the effectiveness of sunscreen products manufactured and the information listed on the label. This study aims to determine the physical properties and suitability of SPF values in samples of hand body lotion products circulating in Karanganyar City. The sample used is a sample of hand body lotion listed SPF value on packaging with different brands and circulating in Karanganyar City. Physical quality tests of samples A, B, C, D include homogeneity, dispersion, and pH tests. Followed by measuring the SPF value in vitro using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer of 290-320 nm every 5 nm and measured absorbance, replication was carried out three times in a row, then calculated by the Mansur equation. Samples A, B, C, and D show that all products are homogeneous, meet good dispersion requirements and meet the range of pH requirements. the four samples of hand body lotion products measured in vitro with UV-Vis spectrophotometry had SPF values under label, namely sample A of 24,535; sample B of 3,497; sample C of 4.616; and sample D of 8,844
