Abstract

Dichlophenac is the derivation of phenyl acetic acid resembling florbiprofen and mechlophenamic. This agent is a strong cyclooxigenase inhibitor with anti-inflammation, analgesic, antipyretic effects and recommended to treat chronic inflammation such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis and acute musculoskeletal pain. This research aimed to find out the effect of tween 80 and span 80 base variations on the standard quality of dichlophenac sodium cream including organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, spreadability, adhesiveness, pH, and concentration of tween 80 and span 80 that can produce dichlophenac sodium cream with good physical quality. The result of research showed that the dichlophenac sodium cream with tween 80 and span 80 base variations had different viscosity, spreadability, and adhesiveness in each formula because of their different concentrations. Tween 80 and span 80 base variations affected the physical quality of dichlophenac sodium cream preparation. The result of test showed that tween 80 and span 80 base variations affected the viscosity, spreadability and adhesiveness of cream preparation, but not organoleptic characteristic, homogeneity, and pH. Considering the result of test, it could be found that dichlophenac sodium cream with 3 gram tween 80 and 0 g span 80 base variations produced the good physical quality.
