Abstract
UQHROWI, A.N.F., 2023, RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE LEVEL AND BEHAVIOR OF PATIENTS ON DIARRHEA SELF�MEDICATION IN PAJANG FARMA PHARMACY, SURAKARTA PERIOD OF MARCH – MAY 2023, SCIENTIFIC WORKS, FACULTY OF PHARMACY, SETIA BUDI UNIVERSITY, SURAKARTA. Self-medication is a treatment effort that is carried out without using a doctor’s prescription. Diarrhea is an abnormal condition characterized by loose stools with the consistency of liquid feses. Behavior is the result of various experiences and interactions with the environment which are manidested in the form knowledge, attitudes and actions. Knowledge has an important role in formation behavior somebody, so that public requires adequate knowledge in carrying out self-medication. The purpose of this study was to determine the patient’s characteristics, the level of patient knowledge, patient behavior and how the relationship between the level of knowledge and patient behavior regarding self-medication for diarrhea at the Pajang Farma Pharmacy, Surakarta. This research uses accidental sampling technique which is used for sampling. The research was conducted at the Pajang Farma Pharmacy Surakarta by using a questionnaire n the form of paper where each patient came to buy medicine at the Pharmacy, then the respondent would be determined. The sample used was 100 respondents with 30 questions in each category of questions as many as 10 questions. The results showed that the majority of respondents were female 63%, aged 17-25 years 71%, with tertiary education 49%, and working as a student 61%. Then as many as 65% of patients have a good level of knowledge and as many as 67% of patients have very good behavior. On the results of the test analysis Spearman rho showed that there was a relationship between the level of patient knowledge and behavior towards diarrhea self-medication with a significance value / sig < 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05) with sufficient correlation criteria and is unidirectional.
