Abstract
Corn kernels (Zea mays L.) wos traditionally used to help increase urine (diuretics). In corn kernels contain flavonoids and saponins compound. This study aims wos to determined the effect of diuretic and an effective dose of ethanol extract 70% of corn kernels on white male rat of wistar strain. Corn kernel powder wos extracted by maceration method using ethanol 70%. Diuretic effect test using 25 white rats divided by 5 treatment groups that is positive control 0,72 mg/200gr BW, negative control CMC 0,5%, corn kernel extract dose 11,25 mg/200gr BW, 15,75 mg/ 200gr BW, and 20.25 mg/200gr BW. The average mouse urine volume for 6 hours was processed by statistical analysis of One-Sample Kolmogorov-smirnow test, if normal distributed is continued with One Way Anova and Tukey test. The results of this study showed that the group of corn kernel extract dose 11,25 mg/200gr BW, 15,75 mg/200gr BW, and 20,25 mg/200gr BW has a diuretic effect on male white rats wistar strain. The greater the dose given the greater the diuretic power generated. Corn kernels extract which is effective as diuretic in male white rat is dose 20,25 mg/200gr BW.
