Abstract
AUDRI MARDIANA KASE, 2023, ACTIVITY TEST OF PATIKAN KEBO HERB EXTRACT (Euphorbia hirta L.) ON PLATELET COUNT AND BLOOD CLOTTING TIME IN HEPARIN-INDUCED RATS, THESIS, BACHELOR OF PHARMACY, FACULTY OF PHARMACY, SETIA BUDI UNIVERSITY, SURAKARTA. Supervised by Dr. apt. Titik Sunarni, M.Si., and apt. Jamilah Sarimanah, M.Si Thrombocytopenia is a condition where the number of platelets in the blood circulation system less than 150,000/μL. Platelets have an important role in the blood clotting process. Patikan kebo traditionally used for dengue fever and have flavonoids and tannins which can affect platelet counts. This study aims to determine the activity of patikan kebo herb extract (Euphorbia hirta L.) in increasing the number of platelets and affecting up blood clotting time. Patikan kebo herb was extracted with the maceration method and the resulting extract was characterized by testing moisture and chemical content. The test animals using 24 male white rats and divided into 6 groups, which is normal control, positive control, negative control, and patikan kebo herb extract at dose of 90, 180, and 270 mg/Kg BW. Testing for 11 days, first 5 days were given an inducer to decrease platelets count using heparin dose 0.018 mL/200 g BW of rats intraperitoneally, days-6 to day-11 given the test preparation orally. Measuring the platelets count using a hematology analyzer and blood clotting time using the capilary tube mehod. Platelets count and blood clotting time data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA method and followed by Post Hoc Tukey The result of the study showed that the extract of patikan kebo herb (Euphorbia hirta L.) has activity in increasing the platelets count and accelerating blood clotting time in heparin-induced rats. The effective dose of patikan kebo herb extract (Euphorbia hirta L.) in increasing the platelets count is 270 mg/Kg BW.
