Abstract

Anti acne serum is one of the powerful beauty products to eliminate acne. One of the causes of acne bacteria is Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228. This study aims to determine the inhibitory power of serum anti acne samples of the brand “X”, brand “Y”, and brand “Z” against Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228, these three serums are often used by teenagers. The method used in this research is diffusion method using paper disc which each soaked with sample at 100% concentration, making of media on agar plate, identification of bacteria, making of culture suspension, sample test by diffusion with three replication. Observation based on the presence or absence of inhibitory activity and comparing the sample which is the most extensive inhibitory activity. Based on the research results are obtained: all three samples are effective in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228 bacteria due to the formation of the drag area at 100% concentration on the brand serum” X” with an average of 13.667 mm, brand “Y” with an average of 17 mm, and a brand “Z” with an average of 18.667 mm. The most effective anti-acne serum is the brand serum “Z”, this is indicated by the widest area of the inhibitor that is 18.667 mm.The three serums did not have a significant difference, as evidenced by one-way ANOVA statistical tests with a homogeneity of one subset.
