Abstract
Trichomoniasis can be prevented by safe behavior, namely not having multiple sexual partners and using condoms. This disease is one of the causes of vaginal discharge in women. In general, people do not know about trichomoniasis due to lack of knowledge, so most women do not want to go to health facilities to check themselves. The use of vaginal cleansing soap is a solution for women who experience leucorrhoea without considering the content of the cleansing soap used so that it could be the cause of increased vaginal discharge. This study aims to determine the percentage of trichomoniasis in women related to knowledge and use of vaginal cleansers on the incidence of trichomoniasis at HoREX Baucau Hospital, Timor Leste. This study used an observational method with a cross sectional approach. The source of the data taken was primary data which was measured using a questionnaire instrument and then analyzed using the Chi-square technique with the help of SPSS on 30 samples. The results of the study showed that 12 respondents (43.7%) had trichomoniasis. This study concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and the incidence of trichomoniasis, the value obtained from the Chi-square table in the Asymp.Sig column. (2-sided) is 0.003. This study also proves that there is a relationship between vaginal cleansing and the incidence of trichomoniasis, the value obtained from the Chi-square table in the Asymp.sig column. (2-sided) is 0.000.
