Abstract

Malaria cases in Indonesia in various regions are still endemic. In 2022, NTT has 15,830 cases. The density of parasites in malaria patients is one of the agent and host factors that affect the severity of clinical manifestations caused. Elevated levels of parasites can cause clinical symptoms such as anemia. This study is to determine the correlation between parasite index and hemoglobin levels in malaria patients in the Puskesmas Gaura. This research is a type of analysis research with a cross sectional approach. This study aims to see the correlation between index parasites and hemoglobin levels in malaria patients in the Gaura Health Center work area. Parasite index data and hemoglobin were analyzed on 2 variables that are thought to be related to the chi squre test statistical test. Research data obtained from 15 patients (59%) had mild anemia and 9 patients (41%) had no anemia 22 patients did not experience a significant decrease in hemoglobin, hemoglobin decrease in positive 2 by 3 patients, positive 3 by 15 patients, and the largest positive by 4 patients. The absence of a significant decrease is good in the increase in the parasite index at positive 4. The Chi Square test shows a p-Value of 0.225. A p-value above 0.05 indicates no significance, thus indicating no significant correlation between hemoglobin and malaria index.
