Abstract

SYIVA HURIAH, 2022, FORMULATION AND QUALITY EVALUATION OF EYESHADOW CREAM WITH NATURAL DYES FROM PURPLE SWEET POTATO EXTRACT (Ipomoea Batatas L.), THESIS, FACULTY OF PHARMACY, SETIA BUDI UNIVERSITY, SURAKARTA. Guided by Dr. apt. Titik Sunarni, M. Si. and apt. Nur Aini Dewi P, M.Sc. Eyeshadow cream is a cosmetic that is made using ingredients that are safe because it is used on the eyelids. Purple sweet potatoes contain anthocyanin compounds that can be used as natural dyes. This research is to determine the formula can produce preparations with good physical quality and stability, safety and level of preference from respondents. Purple sweet potato extract is made using 96% ethanol solvent: acetic acid: water (25: 1: 5) as a dye in eyeshadow cream preparations with concentrations of 7%, 9% and 11%. The preparation is subjected to physical quality evaluation, irritation test, stability test, and favorability test. Physical quality evaluation data were statistically analyzed One Way Anova with Tukey HSD motede, stability data were analyzed with independent T test method and favorability test data were analyzed with univariate method. The results of this study show that formulas 1 and 2 produce qualified physical qualities. For cycling tests, it produces unstable preparations in all purple sweet potato eyeshadow cream formulas. In the irritation test, eyeshadow cream preparations do not cause irritation. Purple sweet potato extract eyeshadow cream preparation (Ipomoea batatas L.) has the highest color favorability value in formula 3 at 40%, aroma preference in all formulas at 50% and highest texture preference in formula 2 at 50%.
