Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is disease metabolism marked with hyperglycemia resulting in glucose auto-oxidation, protein glycation and line of sorbitol polyol activation can cause oxidative stress in the body which will interfere with the endogenous antioxidant defense system is glutathione peroxidase enzyme. The fruit of the jamblang acts as alive stock fruit that regulates as antioxidant and antidiabetes medicine. This study aims to know the effect of jamblang fruit antioxidant in vivo and in vitro. Ethanol extract of jamblang fruit, is tested antioxidant activity by in vitro with scavenger free radical DPPH method with the IC50 parameter and compared with the antioxidant activity of kuersetin. Antioxidant tested by in vivo at this study using the method increased activity of glutathione peroxidase enzyme in tissue mice liver it has been than induction alloxan, the data obtained is analyzed a one-way anova method (p<0.05) continued Tukey test. The result of the study showed that the extract ethanol jamblang fruit had antioxidant activity. Antioxidant activity extract ethanol jamblang fruit in vitro have IC50 as 83,30 ppm, this indicated that extract jamblang fruit classified as active antioxidant. The results at in vivo test shows the variation of the dose 100 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg, and 400 mg/kg had an activity to increase level of glutathione peroxidase enzyme but significant between dose 400 mg/kg rats with glibenclamide.
