Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that do not cause death directly, but can be fatal if not managed appropriately. DM therapy failure caused by a lack of patient ability to perform self-management, including incompliance of therapy. Communication between pharmacist with patient called counseling can change patients knowledge and compliance. The purpose of this study was to describe compliance and the effect counseling in Tanon II Health Centre, Sragen. The study was conducted in Tanon II Health Centre, Sragen in period February to March 2016 by purposive sampling with data collection prospectively. Data collection using MMAS questionnaire to measure the levels of patient compliance. The study gave overview of patient compliance that there was increase compliance of respondent with low category 97% to 15%, moderate category 3% to 65%, high category 0% to 20%. And results parametric test of sample t-test obtained significance value P = 0.00 (<0.05), which means there was effect of counseling to therapy compliance.
