Abstract

Calabur leaf is a potent plant as an antioxidant function in memory enhancement. Calabur leaf juice can enchancing the memory of white mice, but it is less practical if consumed by consumers so that need to develop the dosage form of calabur leaf juice, one of them is in form of syrup. This study was aimed to find out effect of calabur leaf juice to memory enhancement of white mice and knew the effective dose of calabur leaf juice syrup. Memory test used morris water maze method. This study used 30 mice divided into 6 test groups, each group consisted of 5 mice ie, group I normal control (aquadest), II positive control (ginkgo billoba), III negative control (base of syrup), IV until VI syrup of calabur leaves with dose respectively 260 mg/kg BB mice, 390 mg/kg BB mice, and 520 mg/kg BB mice. All test animals, except normal controls were induced by ethanol prior to treatment. The mice were recovered at the acquisition trial stage, after induction and after treatment were then observed the latency time. The data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA then continued by Tukey Post Hoc test. The results showed that calabur leaf juice syrup of 260 mg/kg BB mice, 390 mg/kg BB mice and 520 mg/kg of mice had activity as enhancer of memory with the percentage of increase of 43,05%, 57,31% and 70,98%, while the positive control 58.15%. The dose of 390 mg/kg BB mice was the effective dose of calabur leaf juice syrup. Keywords : syrup, memory, morris water maze
