Abstract
The cortex of jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lamk) is one of the natural materials has been used to treat malaria. Malaria is an infection caused by protozoa genus Plasmodium mediatated by Anopheles. This research aimed to determine jackfruit cortex active compounds and antimalarial activity from those compounds. Research method is fractionation of jackfruit cortex. In vitro test was applied to plasmodium strain FRC3 on some variant concentrations of cortex jackfruit fraction, those concentrations was 0 μg/ml, 0,1 μg/ml, 0,5 μg/ml, 1 μg/ml, 5 μg/ml, 10 μg/ml, 50 μg/ml, 100 μg/ml, 200 μg/ml and 400 μg/ml with three times replications. The result analyzed statistically used one way ANOVA with confidence interval level 95% (p = 0.05). The result showed that there are some active compounds were contained by [3-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propyl]ethoxydimetyl; 3-pyrolidin-2-YL-proponic acid; 1,4-diaza-2,5-dioxobicyclo[4.3.0]; Heptadecanoid acid, ethyl ester (CAS) Ethyl n-heptadecanoate; Octadecanoic acid, butyl ester (CAS) Butyl stearate; which indicated has antimalarial activity. In vitro test showed, jackfruit concentration on 400 μg/mL has the highest performance to detain parasitemia up to 99,7%. Key Word : Artocarpus heterophyllus Lamk, Antimalarial, Plasmodium.
