Abstract
The prevalence of gout arthritis in various countries including Indonesia increased in line with lifestyle changes such as dietary intake, obesity, lack of physical activity, and medications. Improved knowledge and compliance of drug use is expected to affect the improvement of the quality of life of patients with gout arthritis. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the level of knowledge on quality of life with drug use as a variable adherence among patients with gouty arthritis. Research using cross sectional method, with a survey to see the effect of the level of knowledge on quality of life and compliance of drug use as an intermediate variable. The subject of gout arthritis patients with or without complications, the data obtained from the questionnaire data level of knowledge, compliance and quality of life of drug use. Data were analyzed using path analysis. The research subjects a number of 35 patients with gout arthritis. The results of three questionnaires namely the level of knowledge of the medium category (66.7 %), compliance with medication use medium category (90.6 %), and high quality of life category (69 %). Significant influence between the level of knowledge on quality of life with the use of drugs as a variable adherence between the percentage effect of 59 %, meaning that the use of medication adherence as a significant influence between the variables that can increase the percentage of the effect of the level of knowledge on quality of life.
