Abstract
Carrot seed oil (Carrot Seed Oil) is an oil obtained from the seeds of carrot (Dacus carota L.) in the carrot seed oil are the largest content that is carotene and contains 66% essential oil and sesquiterpenes. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the carrot seed oil can be made preparations microencapsules with sonication methods to produce the best microcapsules. Carrot seed oil microencapsules with sonication methods that were previously done using the formula of making the PVA polymer that is 1%, 2% and 3%. Then screened using a sonicator conditions sonication process time variations were 1, 3, and 5 minutes with the amplitude of the ultrasonic waves used was 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%. The formulas that produced the smallest particle size, further testing that includes organoleptic test, organoleptic microscopically, pH and viscosity, determination particle size and polydisperse index, centrifugation, density, TEM, and stability. The results showed Carrot Seed Oil can be prepared microencapsules with sonication method, a formula that was selected using PVA polymer concentration of 2% with 1 minute sonication time and amplitude of the ultrasonic 20% yield of 1.31 µm particle size, index and zeta potential polydisperse 0.210 -28.11 mV. Keywords: microencapsules, carrot seed oil, sonication, PVA
