Abstract

The leaves of Ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) and bulb of garlic (Allium sativum L.) both have chemical constituents, such as flavonoids, tannins and saponins are believed to have antibacterial activity. Ketapang leaf and garlic bulbs extracted by maceration method using ethanol 96%. The extract was further condensed in ethanol-free test and chemical substances. The next stage is the identification of test bacteria by means of Gram staining, identification scratches on PSA media and biochemical identification. The ethanol extract was tested antibacterial activity using diffusion and dilution method with various concentrations. The results of the identification of chemical compounds on leaves Ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) and garlic (Allium sativum L.) is positive has flavonoids, tannins and saponins. The results showed positive bacterial identification test, in which bacteria are Pseudomonas aeruginosa. resultdiffusion and dilution test showed that the ethanol extract of leaves of Ketapang and bulb of garlic has antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853. At a concentration of 50%: 50% had the greatest inhibition diameter is 27.9 mm. In the dilution test values obtained Minimum Kill Concentration (MBC) Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 was 50%.
