Abstract
Pain is defined as a sensory and emotional experience that not associated with tissue damage. . The aims of the research were to determine analgesic effect of Ruta angustifolia [L] Pers. Moore Leaf ethanolic extract and to determine the dose of Ruta angustifolia [L] Pers. Moore Leaf the effective analgesic activity with tail flick and writhing test method. Tail flick and writhing test methodhave been used extensively for the development of non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs. Ruta angustifolia [L] Pers. Moore Leaf was extracted by maceration method with ethanol 96%. 25 male white rats strain wistar divided in 5 groups, positive control mefenamic acid 9 mg/ 200 g BB, negative control CMC Na, Ruta angustifolia [L] Pers. Moore Leaf ethanolic extract doses 5 mg/ 200 g BB, 10 mg/ 200 g BB and 20 mdg/ 200 g BB. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and LSD test was done to know the difference between the treatmeant groups. The result of the research showed that ethanolic extract doses 5 mg/ 200 g BB, 10 mg/ 200 g BB and 20 mg/ 200 g BB compare with positive control was indicated that ethanolic extract doses 20 mg/ 200 g BB showed the highest analgesic activity. Steroid an flavonoid compounds contained in Ruta angustifolia [L] Pers. Moore Leaf are thought to have an analgesic effect Key words : analgesic, tail flick, writhing test, inggu leaves
