Abstract

Effective and efficient drug management is important aspect that affects the pharmacy services. Distribution stage is the stage of the drug management cycle which is very critical and complex, while the use of drugs can affect the quality of treatment, cost of treatment and pharmacy services. The purpose of this study is to obtain an overview and analysis the managerial efficiency of distribution stage and the use of drug in Pharmacy Installation Surakarta Hospital in 2016. This study is an observational cross-sectional analytic approach (cross-sectional) which is explained descriptively. The data are collected by retrospective and concurrent, with observation, interview and data collection from the document distribution as well as prescription drugs surveys in Surakarta hospitals. The collected data are grouped into primary data and secondary data, then they are processed using percentage analysis. The results of the data analysis are compared to Depkes (2008), WHO standard (1993) and Pudjaningsih (1996). Based on the research, drug distribution systems for patients in RSUD Surakarta are an individual prescribing for outpatient, whereas individual prescribing and floor stock system for inpatient. Analysis results show that drug management in the distribution stage and the use of drugs have not been managed efficiently. The indicators which show less efficient distribution stage are the percentage of the amount of drug compatibility with card stock is 98.24%, the percentage of dead stock is 2.3%, the percentage of expired and corrupted drugs is 1,6%, the average time spent on prescriptions of non concoction is 33.10 minutes, and the percentage of drug that can be delivered is 95.10% for outpatient and 95.95% for inpatient. Meanwhile, the use of drugs stage shows the use of prescription drugs by using generic names is 72.93% for outpatient and 74.80%, for inpatient, the percentage of injection drug is 0,29% for outpatient and 31,50% for inpatient, the percentage of appropriate prescribing formulary in the hospital is 95.43% for outpatient and 95.69% for inpatient.
