Abstract
Inflammation is the body's response to inactivate organisms that attack, remove irritant substances, and regulate tissue repair. Red betel (Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav) and sembukan (Paederia foetida L.) is a traditional crop are efficacious as antiinflammatory drugs. This study aims to determine the effect of anti-inflammatory combination of ethanol extract of red betel leaf and leaves pepper and know the combination of doses that can provide the most optimal effect. Antiinflammatory activity test was performed on 7 groups of mice. The 1st group (CMC Na 1%), the 2nd group (Fenilbutazon 3,6 mg / 200 g BW), the 3rd group (red betel ectract 10 mg / 200 g BW), the 4th group (sembukan ectract 4 mg / 200 g BW), the 5th group is a combination of red betel and sembukan ectracts 25%: 75% (2,5 mg: 3 mg) / 200 g BW, the 6th group is a combination of red betel and sembukan ectracts 75%: 25% (7,5 mg: 1 mg) / 200 g BW, and the 7th group is a combination of red betel and sembukan ectracts 50%: 50% (5 mg: 2 mg)/ 200 g BW. Each group induced 1% carragenine, then measured edema volume at t0, t1, t2, t3, t4, t5, and t6. Antiinflammatory activity is demonstrated by its ability to inhibit edema induced by lambda carragenine induction. To know the difference in each treatment conducted ANOVA test. The results showed that the combination of red and red betel leaf ethanol extracts had effective and synergistic antiinflammatory activity in inhibiting edema volume compared to single test preparation. The dose that gives the most optimum effect is the dose combination of 50% DE (5 mg: 2 mg)/ 200 g BW.
