Abstract
The development of fungal infections in Indonesia which is a tropical country gets special attention. The ungu leaf (Graptophyllum pictum (L.) Griff.) Can traditionally relieve hemorrhoid symptoms. ungu leaves contain flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, steroids. This research was aimed to find out the antifungal activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water fraction of ethanolic extract of ungu leaves on Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Preparation of ungu leaves ethanol extract with maceration powder and 96% ethanol solvent then fractionated using n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water solvent. Test of antifungal activity using diffusion method of concentration 50%, 25% and 12,5% To find out the most active fraction. The most active fractions were then diluted to determine the values of MIC and MBC using concentrations of 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%, 3.125%, 1.563%, 0.781%, 0.391%, 0.196%, 0.098%. Statistical analysis using ANOVA oneway to determine whether there is significant difference between test preparation. The result of ungu leaves show that all fractions and extracts have antifungal activity. The results of extract diffusion test diameter, n-hexane, ethyl acetate and air fractions for concentrations of 50% were 13 mm, 15 mm, 28 mm, and 22 mm. The 50% ethyl acetate fraction is the most active fraction with a 28 mm in diameter and with dilution test capable of showing MBC to 12.5%. TLC shows the presence of flavonoids. Keywords : ungu leaf, Graptophyllum pictum (L.) Griff, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, water fraction, Candida albicans.
