Abstract

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic lung disease that needs a long-lasting treatment. The use of long-term medications for COPD patients, hospital care and high rates of doctor visits, has an impact on the high cost of treatment. This study aims to determine the most cost effective treatment between salbutamol and theophylline on patients with COPD inpatient Installation RSUD dr. Soediran Mangun Sumarso Wonogiri in 2016. This research was conducted by cross sectional and data retrieval is done retrospectively through secondary data search is medical records of patients and billing inpatients RSUD dr. Soediran Mangun Sumarso Wonogiri in 2016. The subjects of the study were patients who fulfills the inclusion criteria of 69 patients. Inclusion criteria were patients who received either salbutamol or theophylline therapy. The effectiveness of COPD was measured by spirometry test results with FEV values between 70% - 80%. Cost effectiveness analysis is obtained by calculating the value of Average Cost Effectiveness Ratio (ACER). The results show that salbutamol is more cost effective than theophylline with the value of effectiveness percentage of 81.58% and 74.19% respectively, the value of ACER in a row of Rp. 24,593.92 and Rp. 34.716,54. So salbutamol is more cost effective than theophylline. Key words : Cost effectiveness analysis, COPD, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, salbutamol, theophylline.
