Abstract
Red spinach leaf (Amaranthus tricolor L.) is a plant which empirically efficacious as drug abdominal pain or diarrhea. Red spinach leaf chemical constituents are flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins and polyphenols. The research was conducted to determine the fraction activity n-hexane, ethyl acetate, water and ethanolic extract of red spinach leaf (Amaranthus tricolor L.) as antibacterial against Shigella dysenteriae ATCC 9361 The method was used in this research is the method maceration with 70% ethanol extraction solvent followed by solvent fracination n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water. Antibacterial activity test perfomed by the diffusion method. The consentration was used is 25%, 50% and 75%. The data obtained were processed with statistical analysis Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with a one-track method, so the significance of the results obtained from these data. The results showed that at concentration 25%, 50%, dan 75% ethyl acetate fraction had the most active inhibition power compared to n-hexane dan water fractions that is at 50% concentratiton against Shigella dysenteriae ATCC 9361 bacteria with inhibitory diameter 0f 17,67 mm ±SD 0,57.
