Abstract

Avocado plants (Persea americana Mill.) is plants that are popular with fruit, while the leaves are considered as waste. But apparently leaves avocado is one of the natural ingredients that can be used as a traditional medicine. Empirically intrusted as diuretics, which increase the volume of urine produced when urination to reduce blood pressure and kidney stones. This research to investigate the diuretic effect of infusion avocado leaves (Persea americana Mill.) toward the wistar white male rat strain and knowing the most effective dose as a diuretic. This research was conducted by using the infusion method by means heating at temperature of 900 for 15 minutes. The resulting infusion tested on wistar male rats stain. The animals were divided into four groups, each group consisted of five wistar male rats strain. The first group (positive control) administration of 0,72 mg/200 g BW by furosemide. The second group (negative control) was given 2,5 ml/200 g BW of distilled water. The third group was infused with 20 mg/200 g BWof avocado leaves. The fourth group was infused with 40 mg/200 g BW of avocado leaves. The last group (group five) was given 60 mg/200 g BW infusion of avocado leaves. The comulative amount of urine was calculated every hour for six hours. The data were then calculated the percentege of diuretic power (AUC) and obtained statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and continued to SNK test by using 95% confidence level. The results showed that was infusion of avocado leaves (Persea americana Mill.) effective as a diuretic. Infused a dosage of mulberry leaves wich provided the most effective diuretic effect was in dosage 20 mg/200 g BB. Keywords: leaves of avocado (Persea americana Mill.), infusion, diuretic effect.
