Abstract

Cut is a form of damage or loss of body tissue caused by sharp objects. Red jatropha leaves (Jatropha gossypifolia Linn) can be used as an alternative healing wound cuts because they contain flavonoids, saponins, tannins. This study aims to prove the ethanol extract of red jatropha leaves can be made using a gel spray gel carbopol that meets the physical quality requirements, to determine the effect of wound healing and to know the comparison of certain concentrations of spray gel preparations have the most effective wound healing activity. Red castor leaf was extracted by maceration method for 5 days with 70% ethanol solvent. The ethanol extract of red jatropha leaves was formulated into 3 formulas with different gelling agent concentrations of 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%. Then tested for physical quality and stability. The cut wound healing activity test was carried out on the back of a New Zealand white rabbit. The data obtained were processed using the Statistical Analysis of Variance two-way method. The results showed that the ethanol extract of red jatropha leaves made by spray gel had good physical quality and stability and had the effect of wound healing. Of the three formulas, the most effective wound healing activity is 0.2%. Keywords: Red jatropha leaves (Jatropha gossypifolia L), Spray gel, wound healing
